Frequently asked questions

What exactly counts as a palindrome?

A palindrome reads the same forwards and backwards once you apply the ignore options. With all three ticked, A man, a plan, a canal: Panama is a palindrome.

Why do the ignore options matter?

Spaces, capital letters and punctuation sit between the meaningful characters. Ignoring them lets the tool compare only the letters and digits that matter.

Are numbers and emoji supported?

Yes. Digits are kept when punctuation is ignored, and the check splits the string into full Unicode characters so emoji stay whole.
