What does collapse multiple spaces mean?
Every run of two or more space characters is reduced to a single space, so alignment padding and doubled spaces are tidied up.
What happens when I remove all line breaks?
Newlines are replaced with a space so the whole block becomes one continuous line, then any doubled spaces left behind are collapsed too.
Does removing extra spaces change punctuation?
No. Only whitespace is touched — letters, numbers and punctuation are left exactly as they were.
