Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded and re-encoded entirely on your device with the canvas API, so the file never leaves your browser.
What quality should I choose?
About 0.8 is a good balance for photos. Lower values shrink the file further but introduce visible artefacts; PNG output is lossless and ignores the slider.
Why did my file get larger?
Re-encoding a small, already-optimised image can add overhead. Try a lower quality, a smaller max width, or keep the original if it is already smaller.
