Password Strength Checker
Type a password to see how strong it is — a 0–100 score, an entropy estimate, an offline crack-time and a checklist of what is missing. The check runs entirely on your device.
Security checklist
- At least 12 characters
- Contains an uppercase letter
- Contains a lowercase letter
- Contains a number
- Contains a symbol
- No common words, repeats or sequences
Type a password to check its strength. Nothing is ever sent anywhere.
How to use the Password Strength Checker
Type or paste a password into the field — the score updates as you type.
Read the strength score, the entropy in bits and the estimated offline crack time.
Fix anything marked with a ✘ in the checklist — longer passwords with more character classes score highest.
Frequently asked questions
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The password never leaves your device — all scoring and checks run in JavaScript inside your browser and nothing is stored or transmitted.
How is the strength score calculated?
The score combines the number of character classes used, the password length and its estimated entropy, then applies penalties if the password is a common word or contains repeated or sequential characters.
What does the crack-time estimate assume?
It assumes an offline attacker making about 10 billion guesses per second against a fast hash. Online attacks are far slower, so treat the figure as a worst-case estimate.
