Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The screen stream is captured with the browser’s MediaRecorder API into memory on your device and is never sent to a server.

Which browsers support screen recording?

Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera on desktop support getDisplayMedia and MediaRecorder. Most mobile browsers do not, and the tool shows a message if yours is unsupported.

What format is the recording?

Recordings are saved as a WebM file (VP8 or VP9 video), which plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and most modern media players.
