Frequently asked questions
Does the wa.me link need WhatsApp installed?
No. On a phone the link opens WhatsApp or the app if it is installed, and on desktop it opens the chat in WhatsApp Web. The number you scan must have a WhatsApp account.
Why do I need the country code?
wa.me needs the full international number with no plus sign or leading zeros. For an Indian mobile that means 91 followed by the ten digit number.
What does the pre-filled message do?
The text is placed in the chat box ready to send. The person who scans still chooses whether to send it, so nothing is sent automatically.
